Bus Riding Expectations
Arrival: Students will be at the bus stop and ready to board the bus 5 minutes prior to the designated time.
Boarding the Bus: Students should board the bus in an orderly manner and should go to their designated seat or area of the bus.
Students will remain in the seat until they disembark.Sitting: Students should sit in their seats with their feet on the floor and face forward.
Behavior Expectations: Students should keep their hands and other body parts to themselves and speak in a classroom voice, except when the bus driver asks for complete silence (railroad crossing, radio communications, etc).
Cell phones: May be used if permitted by bus drivers, however, they must be silenced or earbuds must be used. Taking pictures or videos on the bus is strictly prohibited.
Water bottles: Are allowed on the bus, but eating is prohibited, unless special arrangements have been made in advance.
Respect: Students and adults should treat others with respect at all times. Swearing, fighting, violence or bullying is never allowed on the bus.
Keep emergency exits and aisles clear at all times
If the windows are to be open (based on drivers instructions), they are not to be open over half way. No body parts are allowed out the window. Nothing should be thrown or shouted out the window.
Please do not disrupt or distract the bus driver with your voice or actions.
Safety First: Do not compromise the safety or well-being of others.
Weapons and items that could be hazardous or destructive are strictly prohibited.This would include (but not limited to) pointed objects, matches, lighters, knives or other weapons, perfumes or sprays and anything else that could do harm.
Boarding the Bus:
Be ready and waiting at the bus stop.
For your safety, please do not stand in the road while waiting for the bus.
Look both ways before crossing the street or highway and cross only after signaled to do so by the bus driver.
Let the bus come to a complete stop before boarding.
Due to visibility, never walk between parked buses when loading at the school.
Pushing, crowding, and horseplay are not permitted.
Conduct on the Bus:
Take your seat as soon as you get on the bus.
Take the seat assigned by the driver, if one has been assigned.
Assist in keeping the bus safe and sanitary at all times.
Refrain from fighting and throwing or snatching caps, books, lunch boxes, and other items.
Throwing things inside the bus or out the windows is not permitted.
Eating or drinking is permitted only with the driver’s permission.
Cell Phone usage is only allowed if permitted by the driver. Taking pictures and videos on the bus is strictly prohibited.
Keep your body in the bus - please do not extend heads, hands, or arms out the bus windows.
For the safety of all, please treat bus equipment carefully and never tamper with the bus in any way.
Damage to seats or any other part of the bus, interior or exterior, must be paid for by the offender.Remain in your seat while the bus is in motion.
Refrain from unnecessary conversation with the driver.
Loud talking and horseplay divert the driver’s attention. Please refrain from this.
Remain in the bus during an emergency unless directed by the driver or patrol officer to do otherwise
Always be aware of how to get off the bus in an emergency.
Emergency doors and exits are to be used only in case of emergency.
Books and personal belongings should be kept out of the aisles.
Being rude or abusive to people passed on the route is strictly prohibited.
Safely Unloading or Leaving the Bus:
Remain seated until the bus is completely stopped
Please do not crowd, push, or horseplay when leaving the bus.
When it is necessary to cross the road after leaving the bus, go to the front of the bus and wait for the driver’s signal to cross. Cross in front of the bus so the driver can see you.
