March 26, 2024
We have some important updates regarding calendar adjustments for the 2023-24 academic year, following the unexpected snow days we have experienced.
The Oskaloosa Board of Education has approved a plan for a revised school calendar. This decision was made with the best interests of our students, families, and staff in mind.
Key Adjustments for Students and Families:
Final Day of School: The last day for students will now be Friday, May 24, 2024. Students will be dismissed one hour early. This will allow students to complete the school year before Memorial Day.
Adjustment of Professional Development Day: The professional development day initially scheduled for Friday, May 3 will now be a regular full day of instruction for students.
Full Day of Instruction: Thursday, May 23, will be a full school day for students.
The overwhelming support from teachers and parents for this plan underscores our community's commitment to our students' education and well-being. We appreciate everyone who has provided their input and feedback.
Please note that any additional snow days, late starts, or early dismissals could necessitate extending the school year beyond Memorial Day so that we remain in compliance with state requirements.
Should you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact your child's school office. Your understanding and cooperation greatly contribute to our ability to navigate these changes smoothly.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration as we adapt to these changes together.
