Check out the school district’s website - and look for the virtual backpack - which is starting to fill up more activities for your student - especially summer activities and camps! It’s like a one stop shop! Check it out!

Drivers Ed Information: The school’s summer program will be just ONE session, beginning May 28th and with a cost of $395. This program includes online classroom and in-person drive time. Drive times will be determined by the instructor(s). DETAILED instructions on the program can be found: on the commons window ledge or the Virtual Backpack on the district’s website. Forms and tuition/fees are due to Becki Gatton at OHS by May 21st, to guarantee a seat. Questions may be directed to Mr. Rob Campbell at: campbellr@oskycsd.org

8th graders: If you missed the Washington DC trip meeting with Mr. Luck, be sure to stop by and visit with him about this HIGH SCHOOL opportunity. PARENTS: if you’re on the fence about this trip for your 8th grader and would like more information plan to attend ONE of the two upcoming meetings either on Wed April 29th at 5:45 PM OR Wed May 6th at 5:45 PM - both being held at OHS Room #312 - 30 minutes long. 

8th graders: here’s some information from OHS Student Council and Mrs. Gile:

Student Council class officer sign ups and green sheets need to be turned in by May 24th. 

If you are just running for student council, the green sheets need to be turned in by May 1st.

Osky Softball fans, get your gear here: Softball season is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited! Check out the store to get this year's softball apparel! 8th grade students, Student Services will be offering YOU an opportunity to leave behind your class memory by participating in painting a brick in Mrs. Brummel’s office. If you are interested in painting a brick please stop down to Student Services for more information and be prepared to submit a drawn design in color of your legacy brick using your class graduation year, Class of 2030. All submissions are due by the end of the school day on Tuesday, April 28th. 

Clubs continue here at OMS: Monday is PE Club, Tuesday is Cooking Club, Wednesday is FCA Club and Thursday is Game Club. All clubs meet right after school and conclude an hour later. Get involved!

8th graders: OHS VOLLEYBALL MEETING for the 2026–2027 School Year - Join the OHS VB coaches for an important meeting April 30th from 7:30 - 8:00 AM to kick off the upcoming season. This will be held at the High School Library. You’ll receive :Information about upcoming summer events, Review of a tentative preseason schedule and get important details to help you prepare for the upcoming fall season. Make sure to arrive on time. We’re excited for a great season—see you there! *reach out to the OHS activities office for more information.

The OMS Talent Show will be held May 14th. Be sure to check your email for an important message from Miss Jorgensen pertaining to getting your name on the audition list! 

Commons vending machines: new information that has been shared with us is that our vending machines have to be in the OFF position ½ hour before and ½ hour after school begins and ends. This means BOTH machines will NOT be working between 7:30 AM and 4pm daily. Plan accordingly with your morning and after school snacks!

Check out the district’s APP and website and look for the VIRTUAL BACKPACK! It’s filled with camp information for all ages, all year long and is a great resource for our district families 24/7. 

Cell phone policy: Hey Oskaloosa Middle School students, This year, the Iowa Legislature passed a new law (HF 782) that changes how personal devices can be used during the school day at every school in the state of Iowa.Here’s the bottom line:

  • No personal devices (phones, smartwatches, earbuds) during class time, passing time, or lunch.

  • You CAN use your Chromebook for schoolwork.

  • If a device is seen or heard, it will be taken to the office.

  • Put devices away, turned off, in locker during the school day.
