
Last week, the OHS Speech Team kicked off Spring Break with Individual State competition at Cedar Rapids Xavier! Students faced three judges who each gave a division rating (1 = superior, 2 = excellent, etc.), which was then averaged for an overall rating. All contestants gave their best performances to end the season strong!


OHS Student Council is hosting their annual Blind Volleyball Tournament on Monday, March 18th, starting at 6pm in the high school gyms.

🎳 The Oskaloosa Girls Bowling Team competed in the State Team Tournament held in Waterloo last week! They averaged 170 for the 15 qualifying baker games, which qualified them as the 5th seed. They ended up finishing 8th in the tournament. It was a tough battle on the lanes, but what an experience it was for these girls that made history for Osky. 🎉 Help us congratulate these girls for finishing up their season with pride and determination! 👏

🎳 Oskaloosa's individual state qualifiers bowled yesterday in the Class 2A State Individual Tournament!
Sidney Thompson finished in 5th place overall for the Individual Girls Tournament. Sideny had games of 182, 248, and 191 for a 616 three-game total series. Ava Ridenour competed with games of 167, 165, and 155 for a 487 three-game series, which put her in 26th place.
On the boys side, Trey VanWyk finished in 12th place with games of 258, 195, and 182 for a 635 three-game series. Jacob Schutz finished in 23rd place and bowled games of 154, 158, and 233 for a three-game series of 544.

OHS students visited William Penn last week to visit six different stations with activities. The stations included the chemistry lab, ecology lab, kinesiology lab, human performance lab, and a panel of coaches and student athletes. Congratulations to Trey VanWyk and Jacob Schutz for qualifying as individuals for the 2024 Boys State Bowling Tournament! Trey was the district champion, bowling a 755 series and having games of 256, 259, and 240. Jacob finished 8th and had his highest game of the season with a 264.
The Oskaloosa Boys Bowling Team finished in 4th place as a team, just 13 pins away from 3rd place and 32 pins away from qualifying for the 2024 State Tournament. Cole VanderWal finished in 9th place, only 8 pins away from 8th place. Marshall Seibert finished in 20th place, which put four of the Osky bowlers in the top 20. What an amazing season for these Oksy Indians! We are proud of your hard work and dedication.

Yesterday, the Oskaloosa Girls Bowling Team qualified for the 2024 State Bowling Tournament as a team! This team is the first Oskaloosa Girls Bowling Team to qualify for the state tournament as a team. Congratulations to this Oskaloosa Girls Bowling Team on a great day on the lanes!
In addition, Sidney Thompson and Ava Ridenour both qualified as individuals for the 2024 State Bowling Tournament. Ava finished in 6th place with games of 244, 171, and 158. Sidney placed 3rd with games of 192, 179, and a final game of 235. A big round of applause for these two girls!
The 2024 State Bowling Tournament begins on February 19 in Waterloo. Best of luck, girls!



Congratulations to Ty Lorentzen and Kaiden Parker for qualifying for the 2024 IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament! Both wrestlers finished in 2nd place at districts this past weekend. Ty and Kaiden will start wrestling for a spot on the podium this Wednesday. Help us wish them good luck!

Last week, a group of OHS students attended the District 5 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference for competitive events. Emma Adams and Camryn Cassens competed in Job Interviews, with Emma taking 1st place and Camryn taking 3rd!
