🌟 Oskaloosa Middle School is proud to extend a warm welcome to our dedicated school board members whenever they visit to celebrate the achievements of our students. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting school board member Amanda McGraw, who paid a visit to Zoey, an outstanding student, during lunch!
Zoey recently demonstrated incredible courage and responsibility by upholding our "See Something. Say Something" protocol, and we couldn't be prouder. Mrs. McGraw took the time to treat Zoey to a meal, engaging in conversation and acknowledging her for her good deed.
We are grateful for the support and recognition provided by our school board members like Mrs. McGraw, who help us foster a nurturing and appreciative environment for our students. 🌟👏
🏐🏈 What an incredible start to the season! 🎉
On September 7, we kicked off Middle School Volleyball and Football! Check out these snapshots from last night's 7th grade home volleyball match against Knoxville and the 7th grade football home opener against Ottumwa. 📸
Stay tuned for more exciting moments as we cheer on our talented teams throughout the season! 📣💪
Middle School Cross Country had a fantastic start on September 7! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
Our Cross Country team kicked off the season with their first meet at Fairfield. The boys came home with the team championship, with 4 boys finishing in the top 19! Joel Pogany deserves a special shoutout for his outstanding 3rd place finish – what a performance! 🌟
The girls' team also had a strong showing, achieving 3rd place in the team standings. 👏 Sabrina Frost was our standout runner, securing 13th place. Well done, Sabrina!
The team will be back in action next Tuesday at their home meet at Edmundson Park. Go Indians! 📣
Oskaloosa Middle School is proud to recognize Zoey for her incredible act of courage and responsibility! While waiting to enter the building, she reminded a visitor to check into the office, ensuring that our visitor protocol is followed correctly. This might seem like a small act, but it has a huge impact on campus safety! 🏫❤️
Zoey, your quick thinking and willingness to engage with an adult you didn't know truly exemplify what it means to be a responsible and caring member of our community. Let's give Zoey a big round of applause for her outstanding efforts! 🎉👏
DRILL: Oskaloosa Middle School students and staff successfully completed a lockdown drill today. These drills play a vital role in equipping both students and staff with the necessary skills to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies, ensuring their preparedness in the event of potential threats or crises. The drill provided an opportunity for students and staff to practice their response strategies and receive valuable input from emergency personnel and law enforcement.
A heartfelt appreciation goes out to the dedicated officers of the Mahaska County Sheriff's office and the Mahaska County Emergency Management Director, who joined us and actively participated in this exercise. Their professionalism and expertise were invaluable in helping us refine our safety protocols and procedures.
“This is the third time we’ve done this drill, and each time, the students get better and better,” says Mahaska County Sheriff Russ VanRenterghen. “It’s obvious the new teachers have been trained very well. The Mahaska County Sheriff's Office is always happy to assist with safety initiatives, as nothing is more precious than the well-being of our students.”
Thanks to the cooperation of our amazing students and staff, we now stand better prepared than ever. #ALLIN
